QUINCY, Mass. (AP) — Joe D'Arrigo and his four daughters have run the Boston Marathon nearly 40 times between them.
Yet they had never run the entire route together.
They hope to do just that next Monday after last year's effort to cross the finish line together was interrupted by the explosions that killed three people and injured more than 260.
The 70-year-old D'Arrigo of Quincy and daughters Kerri, Beth, Jen and Kate, made it to Kenmore Square last year when they were stopped by police.
D'Arrigo tells the Patriot Ledger (http://bit.ly/1n69WFh ) the only consolation was that they were together and had already passed their families at mile 21, so they knew everyone was safe.
He says marathon day is like Christmas to the family and "no one will take Christmas away from us."
