NATICK, Mass. (AP) — A Natick man who thought he was doing the right thing has found himself in trouble with the law.
Police say 21-year-old William Allen Whitfield walked into the police station in the wee hours of Wednesday morning to report that he had crashed his car.
When officers spoke to him they detected the smell of alcohol on his breath.
Police say he failed field sobriety tests, including a breath test that showed he was above the legal limit to drive.
The MetroWest Daily News (http://bit.ly/1i1aF8A ) reports that he was charged with driving under the influence of liquor and driving to endanger.
He was released without bail at his arraignment Wednesday after pleading not guilty. He was also ordered not to drink.
