FALL RIVER, Mass. (AP) — The case of a New Bedford man charged in a fatal stabbing outside a Fairhaven VFW post six years ago is in the hands of a jury. Jurors in the murder trial of 24-year-old Brandon Callender were excused for the day at 4 p.m. Tuesday and were scheduled to resume deliberations at 9 a.m. Wednesday in Fall River Superior Court. The Standard-Times reports that Callender is charged with murder in the death of 30-year-old Joshua Fitzgerald and armed assault to murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon in the stabbing of Fitzgerald's brother, Patrick Fitzgerald. The stabbings occurred during a melee outside the Fairhaven VFW on April 4, 2008 after a party. A co-defendant was convicted of manslaughter in 2010. ___ Information from: The (New Bedford, Mass.)
