WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) — The trial of a 72-year-old Worcester man charged with sexually assaulting a girl starting when she was 7 years old has started.
Jury selection in the trial of Saul Santana started Tuesday in Worcester Superior Court.
The Telegram & Gazette (http://bit.ly/1fCeX4L ) reports that Santana has been indicted on three counts each of rape of a child with force and child rape aggravated by age difference, and six counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14.
Prosecutors say the alleged assaults occurred between October 2008 and October 2011. The girl was 7 when the assaults allegedly began.
Santana's lawyer says her client denies the allegations. He is free on $5,000 bail after pleading not guilty.
