WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) — A former health and sex education teacher at a Fitchburg charter school has been indicted on charges that she had sex with a 14-year-old male student.
The Sentinel and Enterprise reports (http://bit.ly/16or1MW) 27-year-old Rachelle Gendron of Fitchburg pleaded not guilty Friday in Worcester Superior Court to charges of rape and enticement of a child. She was released on $2,000 bail.
Defense lawyer Andrea Levy said Gendron maintains that she is innocent.
Prosecutor Cheryl Riddle said Gendron was 25 and 26 years old when she had sex with the 14-year-old who attended North Central Charter Essential School. Riddle said investigators found text messages between the two "in various states of undress." Riddle said Gendron worked at the school for five years and has been fired.
The school says the student is no longer enrolled.
