FALL RIVER, Mass. (AP) — A retired Fall River firefighter and longtime local youth sports coach has pleaded not guilty to sexually abusing two boys.
Wesley Allardice was arraigned Tuesday on charges including assault to rape a child, aggravated rape and abuse of a child by age difference.
Court documents say the boys were between the ages of 11 and 14 at the time of the alleged offenses.
The 62-year-old Allardice's attorney, Kenneth van Colen, tells the Herald News (http://bit.ly/If7U45 ) that his client "adamantly denies the allegations." He is free on bail.
Allardice retired about 10 years ago from the Fall River Fire Department after a 33-year career. He has also coached local youth sports for several years, most recently the city's Junior Legion Baseball team, comprising players ages 13 to 17.
