LONGMEADOW, Mass. (AP) — State police say the driver who died after a crash caused when he apparently swerved to avoid couch cushions in the road in Longmeadow last weekend was a 17-year-old Springfield boy.
The victim's name in the crash Sunday night on Interstate 91 was not released because of his age.
Police say the boy struck a tractor-trailer at about 5:50 p.m. after swerving to avoid the cushions and died when his SUV caught fire.
The investigation into the crash continues and WGGB-TV (http://bit.ly/1aQCv3S) reports that a dark-colored pickup truck was towed to state police barracks in Springfield on Monday night.
Witnesses told police that a pickup truck was seen pulled over with a couch in the bed at about the time of the crash.
