ATTLEBORO, Mass. (AP) — A New Bedford man who used his mother as an unsuspecting getaway driver after shoplifting from a North Attleborough Walmart has been sentenced to a year in jail.
Parrish Williams was sentenced Monday after pleading guilty to stealing $700 worth of baby formula from Walmart on two occasions, the first time on April 7, the second time on Friday.
Police say Williams was spotted inside the store Friday putting baby formula in a tote box and leaving without paying.
Police say he then got in a car driven by his mother, and told her to "take off."
Store security informed police and pointed out the getaway car.
The Sun Chronicle (http://bit.ly/ZDG5ob ) reports that Williams' mother did not know her son was stealing and was not charged.
