CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — Flags on public buildings in New Hampshire and Maine are being lowered to half-staff in honor of national Peace Officers Memorial Day. May 15 was first designated as National Peace Officers Memorial Day in 1962 by President John F. Kennedy to recognize law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty. Gov. Maggie Hassan also has ordered flags to half-staff in New Hampshire on Friday, which is the day the state recognizes Law Enforcement Memorial Day. © The Associated Press. All rights reserved.
