BRIDGEWATER, Mass. (AP) — A West Bridgewater man police say was texting when he was involved in a car crash last week has died.
A spokeswoman at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston told The Enterprise of Brockton (http://bit.ly/19d9CLj ) that 25-year-old Dennis McElhinney died Sunday.
That's one week to the day after he was involved in a head-on crash on Route 18.
Police had cited McElhinney for texting while driving, negligent operation of a motor vehicle from mobile phone use resulting in injury and marked lanes violation.
Police said the northbound McElhinney crossed the center line and collided head-on with a pickup truck traveling south, then struck another vehicle. The truck driver suffered minor injuries. The operator of the third vehicle was uninjured.
