PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — A Massachusetts man has been charged with driving drunk during a police chase in Rhode Island last year that ended with a fatal crash.
WJAR-TV reports (http://bit.ly/10fQnNw ) Brandon Borge was arraigned Thursday in Providence Superior Court after being arrested the previous night in his hometown of Fall River, Mass. He pleaded not guilty to DUI, death resulting, and driving to endanger, death resulting.
The Cranston crash on April 1, 2012, killed a passenger in Borge's car, 34-year-old Barbara Ellis of Attleboro, Mass. Borge lost both his legs.
WJAR reports authorities found Borge after Ellis' family called the station to complain that Borge hadn't been arrested.
Rhode Island prosecutors say an arrest warrant for Borges was entered into a national police database, but state police say they didn't know about it.
