CHELSEA, Mass. (AP) — A landmark Colombian bakery in Chelsea has been destroyed in a fire, leaving a large hole in the community.
The El Dorado Bakery was destroyed by a two-alarm fire early Thursday morning.
Carlos Camacho opened the bakery with his father and brother 26 years ago. He closed the shop about 9 p.m. Wednesday, and when he returned to open the bakery at 4 a.m., fire trucks from Chelsea, Everett, and Revere were outside, his building in flames.
No one was hurt and the exact cause remains under investigation.
The 53-year-old Camacho tells The Boston Globe (http://bo.st/1b3v8no ) that he and his father opened the bakery because there was nothing like it in the area. It provided many local residents with a taste of home.
