WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) — A jury is deliberating the case of a married couple from Northbridge both accused of child rape involving different children.
The Worcester Superior Court jury is expected to resume deliberations Thursday.
Fifty-year-old Joseph Mayotte and his 49-year-old wife, Linda, are each charged with child rape, child rape aggravated by age difference, indecent assault and battery on a child and other offenses.
Prosecutors say Joseph Mayotte sexually abused a girl over a five-year period beginning in 2004 when she was 8.
His wife allegedly had a two-year sexual relationship with a boy beginning in 2005 when he was 13.
The Telegram & Gazette (http://bit.ly/1beBfVk ) reports that Joseph Mayotte's lawyer questioned the credibility of his accuser.
Linda Mayotte's lawyer said she was raped by the boy, not the other way around.
