HANSON, Mass. (AP) — Authorities say a 21-year-old Hanson woman charged with striking and killing an 18-year-old pedestrian with her car was on heroin at the time.
Sara Sansone was released on $5,000 bail on Tuesday after pleading not guilty to operating under the influence of heroin causing serious bodily injury, motor vehicle homicide and a marked lanes violation.
Police say Sansone struck 18-year-old Aron Langlais just after midnight Tuesday. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.
A judge ordered Sansone to remain under house arrest with electronic monitoring, and refrain from drug and alcohol use.
Prosecutors had sought $25,000 bail.
Sansone's defense lawyer tells The Enterprise (http://bit.ly/10MrZV8 ) that his client has no criminal record and is "in shock."
