NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (AP) — A trial of a Hadley man charged with sexually abusing three young boys has started in Hampshire Superior Court.
The prosecutor said in opening statements at the trial of Frank Stanley Jr. on Tuesday that he violated the trust of the boys who considered him a "second father" or "cool uncle."
The 42-year-old Stanley faces 18 charges, including multiple counts of statutory rape of a child and indecent assault and battery on a child under 14 for acts that allegedly took place from 2004 until 2011.
Prosecutors say two of the alleged victims were sons of a friend, while the third he was paired with through the Big Brothers Big Sisters program.
The Daily Hampshire Gazette (http://bit.ly/19dznKK ) reports that Stanley's lawyer said the boys made up the stories of abuse.
