LYNN, Mass. (AP) — Authorities say a 12-year-old child was brought to the hospital after a section of a ceiling in a city apartment collapsed.
Lynn District Fire Chief Robert Bourgeois says a 6-by-6-foot piece of plaster from the ceiling of a third-floor unit in a city apartment building fell at about 6 p.m. Saturday.
He suspects heavy rains caused the collapse.
He tells The Daily Item (http://bit.ly/163CCnG ) that water got into the insulation and the plaster.
The city building inspector also responded to the scene.
The National Weather Service recorded approximately 3.5 inches of rain fell between Friday and Saturday nights at Logan International Airport.
