TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — Democrat Barbara Buono says Gov. Chris Christie's presidential ambitions are getting in the way of what's best for New Jersey.
Christie's opponent tells MSNBC the governor is making decisions based on how voters will react in early presidential primary states.
For example, the Democrat says Christie vetoed a ban on .50-caliber assault rifles after receiving a warning from what she calls "pro-gun New Hampshire."
Christie said the ban went too far and would have restricted lawful recreation.
The New Jersey governor's race has entered its final phase ahead of Tuesday's election.
New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez is joining Christie on a daylong bus tour as he seeks a second term in what many say is a run-up to a presidential bid.
Buono plans a Monday evening rally in Union Township.
