GRANBY, Mass. (AP) — Three students are recovering after getting struck by lightning at a western Massachusetts private school.
Steve Griffin, head of the MacDuffie School in Granby, says the students were struck while sitting outside at a picnic table on Tuesday afternoon.
He tells The Daily Hampshire Gazette (http://bit.ly/14UTagx ) that two students were knocked unconscious while a third suffered less serious effects. Three faculty members performed CPR at the scene before all three students were taken to area hospitals.
Their ages are 16, 17 and 20. He did not disclose names.
MacDuffie is a coeducational school with about 200 students in grades 6 through 12, about half whom are boarders.
