FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) _ A helicopter crashed on its way from a wedding ceremony, killing the bride and injuring three others including the groom, authorities said.
The helicopter went down in foggy, mountainous terrain late Friday night while ferrying the newlyweds from the top of Eagle Summit, about 100 feet from the Steese Highway, according to Alaska state police.
Paula Sawyer, 52, died Saturday after slipping in and out of consciousness. Her new husband, 54-year-old Roy Ruble, was injured; also injured were his brother and pilot Lee Ruble, 51, and Lee Ruble's wife, Peggy Rotan, 38.
A nursing supervisor at Fairbanks Memorial said the survivors were in satisfactory condition.
Trooper Sgt. Scott Grasle said the four were the only people on board the helicopter. They had been heading to Arctic Circle Hot Springs, 8 miles southeast of Central.
The cause of the crash had not been determined; the National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration were investigating.
