COPPELL, Texas (AP) _ Dallas Stars defenseman Sergei Zubov has been arrested on charges of assaulting his wife and brandishing a knife.
Zubov, 27, was charged with aggravated assault and family violence, a second-degree felony.
Coppell police said they went to Zubov's house shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday after someone at the home dialed 911 and hung up.
Officers, who determined that Zubov had exhibited a kitchen knife in the alleged assault, took him into custody, Coppell police Capt. Wade Goolsby said. He said the weapon was recovered.
Zubov's wife, Irina, was not believed to have been injured.
Zubov, who was the Stars' second-leading scorer during the playoffs with nine points in 16 games, was released Sunday on $5,000 bond set by Municipal Judge Kim Nesbitt.
``The Dallas Stars and the National Hockey League are cooperating fully with the authorities and are offering our assistance and support to both Sergei and Irina,'' Stars general manager Bob Gainey said in a statement.
The club had no further comment.
